OBITUARY: -- Ovie Maxine Bailey, age 98, passed away on January 28, 2017. She was born on January 22, 1919 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to her parents Forest and Evelyn Wilson. As a young woman she moved with her parents and three brothers to Somerton, Arizona. -- Ovie met and married Emzy Lee Taylor of Somerton and together they raised two children, her daughter Carol and son Dan. Ovie always proclaimed those days in Somerton were the best of her life. -- Ovie worked as a switchboard operator in the town of Somerton in the 1940s and knew everyone in town. She was also a homemaker and was very talented at quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was a lifelong woman of faith and put her trust and love in Jesus Christ. She was a strong woman with a strong will. -- Ovie was preceded in death by her parents, Forest and Evelyn, her husband Emzy, her second husband Cecil Bailey, two brothers Jack and Lewis, and her children Dan and Carol. -- Ovie is survived by her brother Ray, son-in-law Harold H. Fowler Jr., her stepdaughter Leona (Louis) Keyser, grandchildren Todd (Marian) Fowler and Rod (Gina) Fowler and Chad (Elizabeth) Taylor. Ovie had eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. -- There will be a celebration of life ceremony for Ovie at the Church of Christ located at 651 W. 28th Street, starting at 10:00am, on February 11, Bill Embree will officiate.
