Son of Rosa Summers and Jacob Clapp. He married Livina Flack on 9 Jan 1851. Per the 1900 census, they had six children and five were still living. The 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses reflect the five children as Wm A., James M., Sarah C., Caleb A. and Margaret A. The child who died was Jacob L. (1868-1869).
