DEATH DISCREPANCY: According to the 1940 U.S. Census in Los Angeles, his wife Winifred S. Swart-Bostwick clearly listed her marital status as a "widow". But there is also a Carl E. Bostwick listed on the 1940 U.S. Census in Milwaukee who was born in 1880 in Indiana, working in Milwaukee as a manager at a printing company, but with a new wife Zanaida (born about 1897 in Illinois). The chances of their being two Carl E. Bostwicks born in the same place, same year, working in the same industry, and in the same occupation in the same city is highly unlikely. I'm inclined to believe Carl was still alive in 1940, that Carl and Winifred were divorced by then, and that Winifred listed her marital status incorrectly.
