OBITUARY:
LUDLOW - David L. Coppolo age 65, of 165 Moore St., long-time owner of New England Signs of Chicopee, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 18, 2012 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, after a two year illness. He was born in Springfield on October 16, 1947, oldest son of Pasquale and the late Geraldine (Somers) Coppolo. David was raised and educated in Springfield and was a 1965 graduate of Commerce High School. He was employed as a sign manufacturer and owned and operated New England Signs, Inc. of Chicopee for many years until its closing in January of this year. David enjoyed Aruba, his BMW, fishing the Quabbin with his grandsons, skiing in the winter, summer days on the beach, smoking his famous pipe, a good chardonnay, day trips to Mohegan Sun, reading books, the sign shop, music and concerts, and dining out with family and close friends. Though illness took most of the things he enjoyed away from him, he never lost hope or gave up the fight to get them back. He leaves behind his beloved companion, friend and care giver Betty, his brothers Alan and Tim, sisters-in-law Dreana and Marilyn, his father Pasquale, daughter Michele, step-daughters: Debbie and Patty, son David, nephews Alan Paul and John, niece Alicia, grandchildren: PJ, Zac, Maygen, Jay, Derek and Aleigha; his two beloved cats, Samantha and Ginger; and many family members and close friends who loved and cared for him. Though he is gone from their lives, David will forever be remembered for all that he was to them and held in their hearts forever. Rest in Peace David, until we meet again. A Funeral Service for David will be conducted at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 11 AM in St. Cecilia Church in Wilbraham. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 from 4 - 8 PM in the Cebula Funeral Home Chapel, 66 South St., Ware, MA. David will be laid to rest in Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow.
