Caroline (Button) MILLER
(1845-1918) |
Caroline (Button) MILLER
Another name for Caroline was Caroline BUTTON. General Notes: NOTES: Caroline was probably adopted. In the 1850 Census she is named Button. In the 1860 Census she is a Miller. Per Ann Gebhard's notes and family bible, Caroline was illegitimate, but was subsequently acknowledged by John P. Per "History of Cass County" by Rogers, there were counterfeiters named Button on a farm later acquired by John P. They fled from the law when raided. The presumption was that Caroline was abandoned. Caroline's husband and child are from the 1870 Census. They are living next door to John P., so the supposition is that it is the same Caroline. Also, her age is close enough to fit. Research Notes: -- Ancestry.com (http://awtc.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=*v27t1991&id=I194) Caroline married James DAVIS on 12 Oct 1862 in Ontwa Township, Cass County, Michigan. (James DAVIS was born on 18 Aug 1838 in North Hampton, Clark County, Ohio and died on 14 Jun 1923 in Jefferson Township, Cass County, Michigan.) |
