Ruth GILPIN

  General Notes:

FAMILY: Ruth was the daughter of Joseph and Hannah (Glover) Gilpin. She, along with 14 siblings, was born in a cave on the east side of Brandywine Creek, about a mile south of Dilworthtown. The cave served as the first dwelling place of her parents.
FAMILY: Sister-in-law to John Bartram, the "Father of American Botany"
FAMILY: Aunt to William Bartram, "America's first Ornithologist"

Ruth married Joseph MENDENHALL, son of Rev. Benjamin MENDENHALL and Ann A. PENNELL, on 30 Oct 1718 in Concord, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
